Despite heavy snowfall and wintry conditions, fans at the Rettenbach Glacier had plenty to enjoy.
Prizes, fan activities and plenty of snow
Interwetten was once again on site with a range of activities for spectators. The Interwetten Wheel of Fortune proved particularly popular, offering entertainment and opportunities to win prizes against a spectacular snowy backdrop. A video from the World Cup weekend, featured at the end of this article, captures the atmosphere in Sölden and offers a glimpse of the anniversary celebrations.
Interwetten’s partnership with the Austrian Ski Federation dates back to 2017 and has long extended beyond traditional sponsorship. The company maintains a presence at selected World Cup events in Austria, organising various activities and experiences for skiing fans.
To celebrate the tenth anniversary, Interwetten has also launched the campaign “10 Years of Best Times – 10 Prizes”. Throughout the 2026/27 World Cup season, fans will have the chance to win exclusive VIP experiences, signed Ski Austria ski suits and a range of other attractive prizes.
The partnership was extended ahead of schedule until 2029 at the prestigious Nightrace in Schladming back in January.
Braathen and Moltzan take victory in Sölden
The opening weekend also delivered plenty of excitement on the slopes. In the women’s race, American Paula Moltzan edged out Lara Colturi by just one hundredth of a second to claim her maiden World Cup victory. Franziska Gritsch was the highest-placed Austrian, finishing ninth.
In the men’s event, Lucas Pinheiro Braathen dominated proceedings. The Olympic champion, representing Brazil, took victory ahead of Loïc Meillard and Marco Odermatt. Raphael Haaser produced an impressive comeback, climbing from 20th to fifth to secure Austria’s best result.
Sölden thus provided an entertaining start to the new World Cup season – and a fitting stage to celebrate the ten-year partnership between Interwetten and Ski Austria.
