Pedro Acosta once again showcased his sprint prowess in MotoGP, delivering a strong performance in Hungary to secure second place. The KTM factory rider from Spain had to yield only to his compatriot Marc Márquez, who proved unbeatable at the Balaton Park Circuit. “Márquez had an incredible pace,” Acosta admitted after the short race, but he was very satisfied with the result: “We have to be happy, we are back on the podium.”
Márquez once again left the competition with no chance in the sprint for the eighth round of the world championship, celebrating his third win in his third start in Hungary on Saturday. The 33-year-old had previously achieved a double victory at the circuit’s premiere the year before.
Acosta finished just over 1.5 seconds behind, with Marco Bezzecchi taking third. The Italian extended his lead in the overall standings to 20 points, as Aprilia teammate Jorge Martín (Spain) finished only sixth.
Márquez claimed his third sprint victory of the season, following wins in Goiania/Brazil and Jerez/Spain. The main race is set for Sunday at 14:00 (DF1 and Sky).
