Anthony Charmig claimed his biggest professional win to date in Le Puy-en-Velay. The 28-year-old Dane from Team Uno-X Mobility took the second stage of the Tour Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes after 234.2 kilometers, breaking away from the group and launching a decisive solo attack just before the final mountain classification, riding alone to the finish.
This marks only his second pro victory, following his first at the Tour of Oman four years ago. Henri-François Renard-Haquin (Picnic PostNL) and Vlad Van Mechelen (Bahrain Victorious) finished second and third, 41 seconds behind. 19-year-old French talent Paul Seixas (Decathlon-CMA CGM) crossed the line with the peloton, alongside rivals Isaac del Toro (UAE Emirates-XRG) and Juan Ayuso (Lidl-Trek), over three minutes adrift. In the GC, Alex Baudin (EF Education-EasyPost) retains the lead, 32 seconds ahead of Ramses Debruyne (Alpecin-Premier Tech).
For Seixas, the race is a warm-up for his Tour de France debut (July 4–26). Notable absentees include defending Tour champion Tadej Pogačar, Giro winner Jonas Vingegaard, and Florian Lipowitz.
Tuesday’s stage is a 28.4-kilometer team time trial, following the same format as the Tour’s opening stage in Barcelona, with individual times recorded for each rider.
