Nõmme Kalju won the first leg of the 2026/27 UEFA Europa Conference League opening-round qualifier against Linfield FC 1:0. The only goal of the evening was scored by Roko Vukušić in the 47th minute, assisted by Musolitin. The match did not take place at the Estonian side's home ground in Tallinn but at Pärnu Rannastaadion in the coastal city of Pärnu — it was the first competitive meeting ever between the two clubs.
Kalju capitalise at the start of the second half
The first half ended goalless. Moments after the restart, Nõmme Kalju made their move: Roko Vukušić, 21 years old and a native of Šibenik, Croatia, converted an assist from Musolitin to make it 1:0. The fact that a defender provided the decisive contribution speaks to the all-round threat Kalju carried throughout. Vukušić, who has had loan spells at Modena, Union Clodiense and RNK Split during his career, announced himself with an early statement for the home side.
Linfield lack firepower — Shields shown a yellow card
Linfield, managed by David Healy, found few answers against a compact Estonian defensive unit. Healy, who has won 14 trophies with the Northern Irish side, introduced Wells for Millar in the 62nd minute and made a double change in the 71st, sending on McCullough and Offord. The equaliser they were chasing never arrived. Shields was then shown a yellow card in the 81st minute — a further sign of the frustration mounting on Linfield's side. Even the late introduction of Brown in stoppage time could not alter the outcome.
Nõmme Kalju made their own calculated substitutions in response: Orlov replaced assist-maker Musolitin in the 68th minute, with Sotsugov and Jabir later coming on for Mashchenko and Baptista. Linfield captain Jamie Mulgrew, 40 years old and the holder of 823 competitive appearances for the club, was equally unable to change the scoreline.

Nõmme Kalju head into the return fixture with a 1:0 aggregate lead. The winner over the two legs will then face Irish club Shelbourne. Neither Kalju nor Linfield have previously reached the league phase of a UEFA club competition — for both sides, this qualifying run represents more than just the next step; it is uncharted territory.
