Jannik Sinner has once again made tennis history at the ATP Masters in Madrid. The 24-year-old defeated Alexander Zverev in the final in just 57 minutes, 6-1, 6-2, continuing his impressive season.
Sinner is the first player to win five consecutive Masters tournaments—a streak that began in autumn 2025 in Paris and continued through Indian Wells, Miami, Monte Carlo, and now Madrid.
The world number one has faced the ambitious German in each of these tournaments, consistently leaving him with no chance. Zverev, who played his first final of the year in Madrid, has failed to win a single set against Sinner in their last six meetings.
With self-irony, the Hamburg player answered a Sky microphone question before the final about whether he had a plan against Sinner: “No. You can see that because I’ve lost eight times in a row.”
With the French Open (starting May 24) on the horizon, Sinner heads to Paris as the overwhelming favorite—especially as defending champion Carlos Alcaraz is sidelined by injury. Before that, Sinner will compete in his home tournament in Rome, where both trophies are still missing from the Italian’s collection.
