A relaxed chat in the sunshine
The blazing sunshine and special guest made for a great atmosphere at SV Zamdorf’s training ground from the outset. Lothar Matthäus, the 1990 World Cup winner and long-time professional for clubs including Bayern Munich, was in high spirits and initially took the time to have a relaxed chat with the players. He gave an insight into his extraordinary career and entertained the team with numerous anecdotes along the way.

And then it was time for the training session itself! Matthäus followed the session closely, offering the players tips and advice along the way. It was a rare opportunity for SV Zamdorf to benefit directly from the experience of one of Germany’s most successful footballers.
Weichs and Zamdorf share the spoils
The unique training session is likely to remain a lasting memory for everyone involved. The Kreisliga side headed into the start of the season with an extra boost of motivation following their special evening. In their first league match away at SV Weichs, Zamdorf put in a committed performance and battled to a 2-2 draw despite playing with ten men for around 30 minutes. A late penalty for the hosts ultimately secured the final score.
