Paris Saint-Germain are considered the big favourites in the Champions League final – including by Peter Stöger. But the Interwetten expert does not want to write off FC Arsenal following their semi-final victory over Atlético Madrid and winning the English league title. “That makes anything possible in the final”, says the Austrian, “Arsenal have developed into a team that can approach games in a results-oriented way.”
The Londoners are “top organised”, have “attacking quality and excellent set pieces. On top of that, they may not have one superstar in their attacking ranks, but several top players who can score goals. That makes them harder to predict and more versatile for the opposition.”
On Saturday (6:00 p.m.) the Gunners face title holders PSG in Budapest. “They knocked Bayern out of the competition in historic semi-final matches and go into the final as favourites”, says Stöger about the French side. Paris may have only “had a mediocre league phase”, but afterwards had “the tougher
side of the draw to navigate in the knockout rounds”.
Just in time for the last match of the season, both teams are for Stöger “in top form at the right time, both have the chance to extend the
momentum a little further and win the final”. In general, with PSG and Arsenal “two worthy clubs have
made it to the final”.
