Pascal Wehrlein already knows this script: in 2024, he arrived in London for the finale trailing in the standings of the Formula E, yet still claimed the title. Now, with a five-point cushion, he has another chance to make history.
With victory in Saturday’s race, the Porsche star moved to the top of the standings, leaving Jake Dennis (Andretti) five points back. Qualifying was already a success: pole position earned him three bonus points, cutting his deficit to then-leader Dennis to just two points and drawing him level with Mitch Evans. In the race, he did the rest – Dennis took second, with Portugal’s António Félix da Costa third.
Evans, who arrived in London as a title contender with Jaguar, finished only 8th and now sits on 148 points. With a maximum of 29 points still up for grabs on Sunday, both Dennis and Evans could theoretically still take the title.
“I managed to bring it home – that was crucial,” Wehrlein said, barely able to hide his relief at the finish. “Huge thanks to the team. That’s exactly how it needs to be done.”
The showdown takes place on Sunday at 16:05 CEST. “We’ll try to do it again tomorrow.”
